Environmental Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to establish a sustainable and systematic environmental management framework, strengthen capabilities to respond to environmental risks, and contribute to environmental protection and overcoming the climate crisis through cooperation among all affiliated companies of Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd. and its stakeholders.

Scope of Application

This Policy applies to Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd. encourages its affiliated companies and cooperating partners that conduct business with the Company to comply with this Policy or policies at a level equivalent to this Policy.

Basic Principles
1. Compliance with Environmental Regulations and Improvement of Environmental Impacts
• Comply with international conventions and laws related to the environment and energy, and strive to improve environmental impacts throughout the entire lifecycle of products, including development, production, use, and disposal.
• Minimize pollutant emissions by introducing environmentally friendly production processes and applying optimal pollution prevention technologies.
2. Climate Change Response
• Establish an internal assessment framework for risks arising from climate change, set achievable goals, and conduct self-assessments of performance.
• Endeavor to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by decreasing the use of fossil fuels and fossil-based raw materials, improving energy efficiency, and developing and utilizing renewable energy.
3. Biodiversity Conservation and Restoration of the Natural Environment
• Make efforts to restore natural ecosystems and conserve biodiversity through efficient use of natural resources and by-products.
• Conduct risk assessments when expanding existing business sites or establishing new sites to minimize damage to forests, green areas, wetlands, and marine environments. Upon business withdrawal, make efforts to restore the original natural environment through reforestation, greening, and similar activities
4. Raw Materials and Water Resources
• Consider resource usage in finished products and seek to reduce the amount of resources input into production activities by replacing materials with environmentally friendly alternatives such as renewable or low-impurity materials, or by introducing new facilities or clean production technologies, including water-saving equipment.
5. Waste and Wastewater
• Minimize the generation of waste and wastewater generated during the product production process, recycle the generated waste and wastewater to the greatest extent possible, and establish waste treatment or water purification systems necessary to minimize the environmental impact of waste and wastewater discharged outside the business premises.
6. Hazardous Chemicals
• Systematically manage hazardous chemicals to prevent chemical accidents such as spills or leaks, and endeavor to reduce the use and discharge of hazardous chemicals.
Implementation Measures
1. Establishment of an Environmental Management System
• Assess environmental risks associated with the Company’s business activities, establish an Environmental Management System (EMS) capable of responding to such risks, set specific environmental performance targets, and continuously improve them.
• The Board of Directors and management shall actively participate in key decision-making, management, and supervision related to the EMS, and provide human and material support by appointing responsible personnel to ensure the system is effectively established and operated.
• For operation of the EMS, include environmental elements in existing policies in accordance with business conditions, and where necessary, establish and comply with detailed internal guidelines and regulations covering specific environmental areas such as biodiversity, forests, wetlands, and climate risks.
• Communicate the importance of environmental protection and climate change response to stakeholders, including suppliers and business partners, and support them in establishing environmental management systems.
• Executives and department heads shall provide training to ensure employees understand the importance of environmental management and the EMS.
2. Climate Change Response
• Integrate climate change-related transition risks and physical risks into enterprise-wide risk assessment systems and management strategies, and manage them in a documented manner.
• Ensure that climate-related risk and strategy evaluations are appropriately reported to the Board of Directors and management.
• Establish and implement concrete and realistic measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality goals.
3. Environmental Management of Production and Business Sites
• Ensure appropriate environmental management of production and business sites through processes such as KPI-based target management, education and training, guideline establishment and management, and internal audits.
• Minimize pollutant emissions and their environmental impacts by applying environmentally friendly production processes and optimal pollution prevention technologies.
• Establish and operate environmental management manuals tailored to the characteristics of production facilities, monitor environmental impacts arising from facility operations, and continuously improve them.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments when opening, expanding, or closing business sites to conserve ecosystems and the global environment, and strive to achieve net-zero environmental impact.
• Avoid business activities that destroy forests or wetlands, and seek and implement optimal measures to mitigate ecological impacts, including forest and wetland restoration activities.
4. Product and Service Development and Distribution
• Identify risks and opportunities arising from the transition to a low-carbon economy, and minimize environmental impacts throughout the entire process of product and service development and supply by expanding eco-friendly products and by-products and assessing environmental risks in transportation and logistics.
• Enhance competitiveness through the development of low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and renewable energy products.
5. Supply Chain Management, Vendor Selection, and Evaluation
• Minimize environmental impacts by incorporating environmental management levels as evaluation criteria when selecting external vendors for supply contracts or service provision.
• Support suppliers and partners in establishing high-level environmental management systems, and proactively manage environmental risks across the entire supply chain through supplier environmental performance evaluations.
• Comply with the Green Procurement Policy when procuring materials and supplies.
6. New Projects and Mergers & Acquisitions
• Minimize environmental risks of new businesses by conducting environmental management planning and environmental impact assessments during the review of new business or investment projects.
• Identify environmental risks in advance through due diligence during merger and acquisition reviews and respond proactively.

Biodiversity Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to establish a framework for the protection and enhancement of biodiversity across all areas of management activities of Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd., and to define principles of action and implementation measures for developing business models that enable sustainable growth in harmony with the natural environment.

Scope of Application

This Policy applies to Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd. encourages all its affiliated companies and cooperating partners that conduct business with the Company to comply with this Policy or policies at a level equivalent to this Policy.

Basic Principles
  1. 1. The Company shall continuously promote the transition from a linear economy, in which resources are extracted, used to produce and consume products, and then discarded, to a circular economy-based business model that pursues sustainability through resource conservation and recycling.
  2. 2. The Company shall identify impacts on biodiversity that may arise at all stages of business activities and make efforts to prevent or minimize such impacts. Where biodiversity has been damaged, the Company shall endeavor to restore it through measures such as habitat and land restoration or closure.
  3. 3. Where biodiversity damage is unavoidable, the Company shall make efforts to minimize biodiversity loss by creating alternative habitats in other locations, and shall not operate businesses in areas of high biodiversity value.
  4. 4. The Company shall designate areas that may be directly or indirectly affected by biodiversity through its management activities, monitor protected areas designated inside and outside business sites as well as other areas of high biodiversity value, and assess and manage impacts on biodiversity.
  5. 5. The Company shall identify threats to endangered flora and fauna discovered within the locations of its business sites and those of its partners, and establish strategies for the conservation of the relevant species.
  6. 6. The Company shall implement ecosystem restoration projects in areas that are directly or indirectly affected by biodiversity due to its management activities, and disclose project plans, implementation processes, efforts to engage local communities, and project outcomes.
Implementation Measures
  1. 1. The Company shall establish procedures and a governance framework under which biodiversity issues are continuously considered in management strategies, decision-making processes, and long-term risk analysis processes, and the Board of Directors shall oversee such matters.
  2. 2. The Company shall integrate biodiversity management into the Group’s environmental management system, and establish objectives and standards for its control and monitoring.

Green Procurement Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is for Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd. to practice sustainable procurement that prevents resource waste and environmental pollution throughout all stages of its business activities, complies with relevant laws and regulations, and fulfills its social responsibilities.

Scope of Application

This Policy applies to Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sungwoo Electronics Co., Ltd. encourages its affiliated companies and cooperating partners that conduct business with the Company to comply with this Policy or policies at a level equivalent to this Policy.

Definitions

The definitions of terms used in this Policy are as follows:

1. “Green Procurement” refers to procurement activities in which, at the stage of sourcing products necessary for business activities such as raw and subsidiary materials and fixtures and supplies, the environmental aspects of the product’s production, supply, distribution, and post-treatment processes are evaluated, and purchasing contracts and supply chain management are operated in an environmentally friendly manner.
2. “Green Products” refer to products that fall under the following categories:
a. Products that have received certification for environmental friendliness, or are recognized as meeting such certification standards, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of Korea and policies of the government or public institutions (including the examples listed below and green products that may be additionally expanded in accordance with changes in laws and制度):
• Products that minimize the input of energy resources and the generation of greenhouse gases and pollutants, and that have obtained conformity certification pursuant to Article 60, Paragraph 2 of the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Response to the Climate Crisis, in accordance with Article 66, Paragraph 4 of the same Act.
• (Environmental Label Certification) Products recognized for environmental improvement by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment pursuant to Article 17, Paragraph 1 of the Environmental Technology and Environmental Industry Support Act, or products that meet the certification standards announced by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment pursuant to Paragraph 3 of the same Article.
• (Low-Carbon Products) Products among those certified with an environmental product declaration pursuant to Article 18, Paragraph 1 of the Environmental Technology and Environmental Industry Support Act that have reduced greenhouse gas emissions as defined in Article 2, Item 5 of the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Response to the Climate Crisis, in accordance with standards determined and announced by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment.
• (Excellent Recycled Products) Products that are certified or meet certification standards as recycled product quality certification target items designated and announced by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy pursuant to Article 33 of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources and Article 15 of the Industrial Technology Innovation Promotion Act, or products that meet the criteria by item announced by the Minister of Environment in consultation with the heads of relevant ministries.
Basic Principles
  1. 1. The Company shall practice substantive green procurement activities that consider environmental friendliness and sustainability throughout all stages of business activities, including raw material procurement, processes, operations, logistics and distribution, and waste treatment.
  2. 2. For the practice of substantive and effective environmental management, the Company shall implement green procurement not only in material purchasing activities related to its core business activities but also across company-wide procurement activities, including consumable materials such as fixtures and supplies used at business sites.
Implementation Measures
1. Active Promotion of Green Procurement
• Actively purchase green products and establish institutional support measures to ensure that green products are given priority consideration in procurement procedures for materials and other items.
• Where green product procurement is difficult due to the absence of relevant certification systems or certified products in the market, purchase the most environmentally friendly products possible by utilizing accessible information such as the use of recycled raw materials, inclusion of hazardous chemicals, environmental impacts of products, recyclability of products and packaging materials, and carbon emissions generated during production and distribution processes.
2. Establishment of a Green Procurement System
• Establish a green procurement system that includes monitoring the status of green procurement, identifying and introducing green products and green product suppliers, evaluating green procurement performance, and setting mid- to long-term goals, in order to effectively implement green procurement and continuously improve green procurement activities.
• Establish measures to share information regarding green procurement performance and goals with stakeholders.
3. Promotion of Green Procurement within the Supply Chain
• Encourage green procurement practices among affiliates, partner companies, suppliers, and transaction counterparties to the extent permitted by applicable laws, and specifically consider whether partner companies have established and implemented green procurement policies when selecting such partners.
